About Me
Hello, and welcome to my About page!
I originally started this blog to collect the stories of my fellow otherkin. I’m definitely still taking stories (my submissions and ask box are always open, and anonymous is always perfectly acceptable!) and I would love to have yours as long as you’re willing to submit it!
Nowadays my blog is a combination of information on otherkin, responses to asks, refuting anti-kin, kin positivity, and a few other kin-centric things. Sometimes I’ll post blog notices, but those will be marked as not kin so you can block them if you’d like.
I’m spiritual dragonkin, and I believe I was a dragon in a past life. Yes I’m aware dragons don’t exist on this planet. I justify this with the multiverse theory. According to this theory it is most definitely possible for a creature resembling our concept of a dragon to exist. I can only remember two past lives, the least recent being my life as a dragon and the most recent being my life as a seagull, although I have very very few memories of either.
I’m also a relatively average human being. I’m female, cisgender, and pansexual. I enjoy reading, writing, cooking, music, and hiking (assuming it isn’t hellishly hot). I’m majoring in English, and my goal is to become an editor. I’m currently taking five college classes, four of which are English courses and one of which is a Math course, as well as working part-time in a bingo hall. I’m also going to be looking for another job in addition to that one soon, so if I seem like I’m super busy, that’s because I am.
Questions You May (Or May Not) Want An Answer to:
- Can I follow you if I’m not otherkin?
Yes, yes, and yes again! I can honestly say I love it when non-kin follow me. It means you’re more willing to listen to a real otherkin than to a troll, and for that I cannot possibly thank you more! I don’t mind if you’re non-kin, other-hearted, questioning, whatever you are it’s fine to follow me! (I do reserve the right to block you if you reblog my posts with anti-kin comments, however.)
- Why not just ignore trolls and anti-kin?
I would hate to think that anti-kin thought they’d managed to hurt my feelings, and mocking them is one way to show them how ineffective they’ve been. As for trolls, I think they do a lot of harm to the community and that as an actual otherkin it’s my job to call them out on it. If that bothers you, I do tend to tag those with anti-kin or kin hate, so feel free to block those tags!
- Why take so many classes?
I want to get through college as quickly as possible to start working my way up in the editing field.
- Why so many exclamation points?
I want people to view me as friendly, and that’s one way to convey friendliness through writing. It does have the side effect of looking a tick less than professional and in some cases childish, so for more serious topics I tend to just use periods. But if I can I’d like people to feel free to talk to me, so exclamation points it is!
- How do you tag things?
I tag general kin things as otherkin, therian, and ficitonkin. Things specific to certain kintypes are tagged as such. I don’t tag any triggers, but if you ask me to I will. I always tag kin hate and/or anti-kin. The first 5 tags will contain important information to the post, and anything after that is free game as far as I’m concerned. So you may see rants, opinions, and things totally unrelated to anything to do with otherkin following the important tags. Venture at your own risk, since I do occasionally swear in the tags.
- Can I send you an ask?
Yes! My ask box is always open, and anonymous will always be enabled. You can ask kin related questions, personal questions, my opinions, or just drop in and say “Man, I hate Bob. He keeps messing up at work I’m so pissed.” and we can talk about how Bob keeps messing up at work and making you angry. I will literally talk about anything, as long as you’re willing to wait for me to be able to get around to answering you.
- Do you have any other blogs?
Yes, my main, chaosalyss, which I don’t recommend following. It’s mostly just reblogs of random things I find entertaining, so anything from music to book related things, anime to video games, bad puns to funny jokes. I may start a blog dedicated to books, but I’m not sure just yet.
- Are there any kin types you aren’t okay with?
Honestly, I haven’t run into any yet that I’m opposed to. At least not among actual otherkin. There are fake kintypes, like Walmart gift card, marijuana, and any form of foodkin that I’m not okay with, but I’m fine with copingkin, glitchkin, divinekin, or pretty much anything else as long as they aren’t hurting themselves or others. I don’t really see a problem with them identifying as kin.
- Many people who have spiritual beliefs also do drugs. Do you?
No, for a large number of reasons. The main ones are a need for control, crappy lungs that can’t handle smoke, and a desire to live a long life. Do I care if you do drugs? No. Will I join you? No.
- How do you feel about self-diagnosis?
I’d say if it’s something like minor asthma, minor joint problems, or a small infection, feel free to self-diagnose. If it doesn’t get in the way of your life, do whatever you’d like. But if you legitimately think you have schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, or a serious disease like cancer, go see a doctor. Yeah, I realize you may not be able to afford it very easily, but any of those diseases can have a huge impact on your life or even kill you. Don’t risk that. Also, it’s not cool or edgy to fake a mental illness. Don’t do it.
- I can’t think of many more questions, anything you think your followers should know?
1) I love getting asks from you guys.
2) I admit that I love Frankenstein but could only get half way through Dracula before I gave up. I have read the entirety of the Twilight series (a fact I am moderately ashamed of), love the Harry Potter series dearly, and my two current favorite book series are the Mistborn trilogy and the Dark Angel Trilogy. I’ve read a good deal of terrible books, many more average books, and a handful I’d call exceptional.
3) If you ask me about Harry Potter expect a mile long post.
4) I do not feel obliged to respect you if you have disrespected me.
5) I’m pretty relaxed about being otherkin. I don’t really hoard, own anything much dragon related, or do typical dragon things.
6) I will not give you a yes or no answer if you ask me if you’re otherkin. I can’t give you that answer, only you can give you that answer. I can lead you towards the correct answer for you, but I have no way of guaranteeing you will reach the correct answer.
7) If you ask me if your feelings are kin related and I believe they aren’t I will try to be nice but I will tell you my honest opinion. If you aren’t okay with that, don’t ask. I’m trying to help you, not validate you. Just know that being non-kin is just as cool as being otherkin. You’re amazing either way.
